Recreatiegebied Spaarnwoude (Spaarnwoude Recreation Ground

The Spaarnwoude Recreation Ground is located between Amsterdam, Haarlem and Velsen. The area, which was designed in the late 1960s as a green buffer from the emerging urbanisation, has since become a popular spot for all modern types of outdoor sports and recreation, attracting around 5.5 million visitors annually. The area covers nearly 3,000 hectares and is an oasis of greenery, nature and tranquillity.

Within its borders, you will find parks, playing fields, a climbing wall, a petting zoo, an educational farm, canoe trails, an adventure land, the indoor ski resort Snowplanet, and a public golf course. There are many opportunities for cycling, in-line skating and walking, and if you would like to stay longer, you can book accommodation in one of the hotels or holiday homes or on a campsite. Spaarnwoude hosts several major events each year, including Dance Valley and Dutch Valley.
